There’s nothing Chef Bailey loves more than supervising the kitchen during the holidays—especially when the sizzling, golden goodness of Hanukkah is involved. While humans enjoy their traditional latkes, we wanted to create a pup-safe version so your canine family members can join the celebration too. These sweet potato dog latkes are crispy, festive, and made with simple, wholesome ingredients your pup will love. Sized perfectly for snacking and approved by Chef Bailey herself, they’re a delicious way to include your dog in all eight nights of joy. Grab your apron, light the menorah, and let’s get cooking—Bailey style.

Ingredients:
1 medium sweet potato, finely shredded
1 small carrot
1 egg
2 tablespoons fine oat flour (or blend rolled oats)
1 tablespoon unsweetened applesauce (optional for binding & flavor)
1 teaspoon olive oil (optional; skip if your vet advises low-fat)
Instructions:
Prep the Sweet Potato and Carrot:
Peel and finely shred the sweet potato and carrot. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
Mix the Batter:
In a bowl, combine shredded sweet potato, egg, oat flour, and applesauce. Stir until the mixture holds together. If too wet, add another spoonful of oat flour.
Form Pup Latkes:
Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture and flatten into small, palm-sized patties.
Cook (Air Fryer Option – Recommended):
Preheat air fryer to 375°F.
Lightly spray basket with olive oil (or line with parchment for oil-free).
Air fry latkes for 6–8 minutes, flip, and cook another 3–4 minutes until lightly crisp.
Stovetop Option:
Heat a small amount of olive oil in a pan.
Cook each latke 2–3 minutes per side until lightly browned. Use minimal oil.
Cool Completely:
Let the latkes cool fully before serving.
Serve:
Give 1–2 small latkes depending on pup size. Store extras in the fridge up to 3 days or freeze up to 1 month.
Tips & Variations:
No onions, garlic, or salt — these are unsafe for dogs.
You can add a small pinch of parsley for fresh flavor.
Serve alongside a dollop of plain Greek yogurt for a festive presentation.
